Do you have a passion for making people feel and look beautiful? Are you interested in a multi-billion dollar industry that you could make as a licensed beauty professional? At The Memphis Skin Academy, you will learn the theory, science, techniques, and skills needed to advance in this industry. All of our programs are uniquely designed to provide our students with the theoretical information as well as an opportunity to gain practical, hands-on training within a salon and/or spa setting alongside a licensed, veteran beauty professional in lieu of the traditionally styled onsite, all-day instruction.

 TRAINING PROGRAMS

At The Memphis Skin Academy, we utilize a hands-on teaching method. All of our  training programs are embodied in a comprehensive, flexible, training that fits your busy schedule! The designed schedules provided for both online and onsite learners are created with the intent to accelerate the program. Our program is divided into two phases. Phase I is facilitated in a classroom setting where the fundamentals of the chosen area of study are delivered based upon the Pivot Point and Milady Curriculum principles. Phase II is completed in a salon/spa setting where the student will provide and/or assist with services aligned within their scope of practice on actual patrons based on the applied knowledge learned from Phase I.

Cosmetology (1500 hours) students can expect to learn:

  • Hair Theory & Principles

  • Hairstyling techniques and trends

  • Haircutting

  • Haircoloring

  • Braiding and natural hair care and styling

  • Basic aesthetic studies

  • Basic nail studies

Aesthetic (750 hours) students can expect to learn:

  • Facials

  • Microdermabrasion

  • Exfoliation

  • Chemical Peels

  • Skincare

  • Full Body Waxing

  • Makeup Application

  • Advanced aesthetic studies

Eyelash Specialty (300 hours) students can expect to learn:

  • ​Infection control

  • eyelash extension applications and techniques

  • Diseases and disorders of the eye

  • Isolation methods

  • Eyelash Removal

  • Eyelash styling

 Manicurist (600 hours) students can expect to learn:

  • Nail theory and nail anatomy

  • Basic & advanced manicuring techniques

  • Basic and advanced pedicuring techniques

  • Artificial nail applications

  • Nail designs

  • Natural nail care

  • Silk nail wraps and sculpture nails

Phase I:

Students learn the theory and principles of Aesthetics. You will be able to demonstrate on your classmates and mannequins to showcase the techniques and theory you've learned.

Phase II:

Students transition into a salon / spa environment working as an apprentice student under a licensed veteran aesthetician. Under this apprenticeship model, students begin to apply their knowledge and techniques by working with real-world clients in a supervised salon/spa environment. 

Course Schedule

At The Memphis Skin Academy we offer flexible schedules for prospective and current students. Day and Evening classes are available!

Day Classes:

Monday- Thursday

8:30 AM to 1:30 PM

Evening Classes:

Monday - Thursday

5:30 PM to 9:30 PM

Saturday Classes:

8:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Mandatory for both day and evening students

Online Classes:

Minimum of 25 hours per week

Onsite on testing days ( Mondays & Thursdays at 9am or 6pm)

Students who are interested in the program are encouraged to register for one of the limited open seats during the enrollment period for each term.

  • Part time classes

  • Enrollment is limited to 20 students in each class
