Originally established in 2017 as an aesthetics-focused school, The Memphis Skin Academy has experienced remarkable growth over the years. Since its inception, it has proudly graduated over 300 students, transforming passionate individuals into licensed professionals across a wide range of beauty and wellness disciplines.
What began as a specialized school for aspiring aestheticians has evolved into a comprehensive educational hub that now offers programs in Aesthetics, Cosmetology, Eyelash Specialty, and Master Educator training. Through hands-on instruction, small class sizes, and a career-focused curriculum, the Academy equips students with the technical skills, industry knowledge, and confidence needed to thrive in the competitive world of beauty and cosmetology.
One of the Academy’s most groundbreaking achievements is its historic role in introducing the Eyelash Specialty License to the state of Tennessee. Under the leadership of founder and owner Melanie Saulsbury, The Memphis Skin Academy became the first school in the state to offer a dedicated program for eyelash extension application. Recognizing the need for proper training and regulation in this rapidly growing field, Saulsbury worked tirelessly with State Representative Antonio Parkinson to advocate for legislative change. Their collaborative efforts culminated in the successful passage of a bill requiring licensure for eyelash extension professionals—setting a new standard of professionalism and safety within the industry.
